Because we're in our slow season right now, I'm going to kick this blog off with pictures from weddings and events that I've had the privilege of designing for over the past few years. This first post will showcase my absolute favorite design of this past year.
As you can see, this piece made quite the statement. While your initial response to a design will often be triggered by its size and dramatic effect, it's the closer look that really made me fall in love with this piece. There are a litany of textures and flowers included in the arrangement. I used "Flaming Parrot" tulips, montbretia pods, lotus pods, curly willow, James Storie orchids, Oncidium orchids, "Big Fun" roses, yellow calla lilies, rose hips, sunflowers, orange and yellow pincushion protea, green hanging amaranthus, silver dollar eucalyptus, acuba foliage, and smoke bush foliage. It's accompanying piece can be seen below:
With this piece I incorporated the same floral combination, but employed a different design style. The arrangements were complementary, but not overly "match-y".
So this concludes my first post -- please stay tuned for more of the past year's work and some fun Valentine's Day designs next weekend.
